Truth Social, the social media platform launched by Donald Trump in 2022, suffered a widespread outage on Thursday. And it’s unfortunate timing for the former president. He was right in the middle of furiously tweeting (or Truth-ing, to use the site’s tortured parlance) about President Joe Biden’s State of the Union speech.
Trump sent a flurry of posts before the outage, expressing anger about things like Biden pointing out the treasonous nature of the January 6th insurrection and the fact that Republican judges were responsible for putting IVF in danger as a legal procedure in Alabama.
Some highlights from Trump’s unhinged live-tweeting before people started reporting they could no longer access the site:
- THE DRUGS ARE WEARING OFF!
- All Reduction Pricing was done by us, and kicked in after we left!
- He is so angry and crazy!
- The so-called “Insurrectionists” that he talks about had no guns, they only had a Rigged Election. The only gun was that used on Ashli Babbitt, who sadly, is no longer with us!
- He did nothing for all the Veterans Administration, or the Veterans—it was all TRUMP!
- He looks so angry when he’s talking, which is a trait of people who know they are “losing it.” The anger and shouting is not helpful to bringing our Country back together!
It should be noted, of course, that almost everything Trump wrote is inaccurate, especially about the insurrectionists who attempted to stop the count of the votes to certify the election on Jan. 6, 2021. Some of the insurrections had guns and even fired into the air just outside the Capitol.
Biden’s speech was fiery, to say the least, with the president showing plenty of energy in what appears to be an attempt to counter criticisms that he’s too old. But that kind of energy clearly upset Trump, who’s almost the same age and has shown his own brain deterioration in recent months.
Curiously, Truth Social’s own status page never showed any problems even though Down Detector had thousands of reports of the site being down. The site appears to have come back online just as Biden was ending his speech.
What sort of gems did Trump send out on Truth Social just as Biden wrapped up?

- WHAT HAPPENED TO NANCY?
- Don’t shake his hand, he’s been coughing into it the entire night!
Because if anyone should know about keeping away from coughing people, it’s Trump.
